Novotel Ieper Centrum

The hotel is new and has the standard international blandness & efficiency of a city centre business venue.

	The hotel was chosen for its close proximity to the centre of Ypres
	The double bed was hard and did not encourage a good nights sleep. The room was stuffy with negligible air change although the window did open

This was a much better stop-over than expected. It was good value for money - but we did get a special deal on the rooms which was very welcome. I was also impressed that there was an alternative to the (otherwise expensive) full cost of breakfast. Staff were universally pleasant and helpful - the location is outstanding.

OVERPRICED - OVERMANAGED - UNDERSTAFFED

	The polite and helpful bar & restaurant staff. The staff cleaning the rooms were also pleasant and polite.
	Normally the restaurant is situated near the kitchen. This one could not be further away from where the food is cooked. The waitress not only had a long walk from the kitchen to the table, she also had to serve behind the bar en route!!

Had an excellent stay. Good location, friendly staff and excellent food.

In spite of a formal reservation the hotel was overbooked ! Novotel proposed - a couple of days on forehand - an alternative downtown Ieper. Fortunately the accomodation was OK for an affordable price. If I have to rate the Novotel right now ... they would be rated as Hotel Faultly Towers ...
