I stayed at the Corp de Garde for three nights in late spring. Because I was there on a "special rate" I may have been given one of the less attractive rooms. Despite this, the bed was comfortable, the room was a good size, and it had additional furnishings that made it more livable--i.e. two chairs and a small table by a window that made a good sitting area. The hotel does not have an elevator, and to access the rooms on the second level, one needs to go up two flights of very steep stairs. I did not find this a problem, but for someone with knee problems or other physical limitations, it would be quite difficult. The best component of the hotel's features is the staff, who are extremely friendly and helpful.
The staff, and the location were excellent. |

Hotels in that region seem to be expensive considering that Groningen is not a major tourist attraction. The Corps de Garde seemed expensive for the amenities given, but a good value compared to other options. |
