No lift for suitcase |

Strange noise in the bathroom while flushing the toilet, view of red light street from the window :-( But close to city centre, new shopping mall nearby. Nice staff, tasty breakfast :-)

Friendly staff and very helpful
that we could leave our luggage during the day after we had checked out. |

If I had to mention something, I would say steep staircases. Next time I would ask to be on the first floor rather than the third. |

It was a nice old hotel. The people were very friendly. It was very good located.
During our stay there was the yearly festival (called "de Gentse feesten) and that was a very nice experience. |

The toilets could be in better condition but because of the aged hotel you can expect this |

Had a nice stay at the Den Yzer. A good hotel with an extremely helpful staff that speaks great english. We had missing luggage and they were making phone calls and looking things up on the internet for us. You have to hike up the stairs to the rooms... not the easiest. The room had a funky layout but was very clean and pretty spacious. Note that if you are uncomfortable with being near the Red Light District, it is directly behind the hotel. Over all great.. we felt the price was still a bit steep even for Ghent.

Built in 12th century! Couldn't believe we were staying in a place over 900 hundreds years old. We had the family room to sleep 4 . Very large room with 1 double bed, 2 twins, dresser, tv, small bathroom, wardrobe, bedside tables. Great value for the money and a great location. The owner Dax was wonderful to work with when booking rooom over the phone. Older persons should be aware you have to climb some narrow and sharp turn stairs to your rooms. Nice breakfast. We would definitely stay again.
The location was excellent. Great restaurants very near by and the main street was 1 block from the hotel. We were there to watch the Tour de France. We could leave our luggage at the hotel until 4 p.m. and then pick it up to get to train station. |
