Legacy Springfield Hotel

Once out of Newcastle city centre (!) the hotel was easy to find. Convenient location for the city.

	The staff were all friendly. This can make or break a stay no matter what the rest of the hotel is like
	The rooms were very noisy. Adjacent rooms and corridor floors creaked abominably.

A poor experience not to be repeated. The room had a broken security lock and a member of staff entered without knocking, the trouser press was broken, and the hand basin did not drain. I spoke to the manager who appologised but the failings were ones they must have known about but were content to let a guest experience. No compensation was offered for the poor experience.

Potential to be nice, shabby round edges. needs money to update and tidy up. Some staff could do with some customer skills training. Food adequate. Wine overpriced per glass. Sofa smelt of sick in the bar. Breakfast room unbelievably hot. Broken glass in car park didnt inspire confidence in security of hotel. Although request for room not on road or over kitchen was granted.

my mother had to stay local prior to moving back to the north east of england. i would say the hotel needs updating. but you arent paying hilton prices. my mam had to carry her own case up a flight of stairs and some distance through corridoors and more stairs without any offered assistance. she is 68 years old. i am 44 and i struggled the next day.

	price was ok for the stay
	no one to help with luggage etc.
