The Quinta itself is set is splendid surroundings and the peace & tranquility of the area were greatly appreciated by we 2 city-dwellers. However, we also like our home comforts and sadly these were few & far between at Qta Santo Antonio. The absence of a fridge in our room was not really noticeable because the room itself was so cold! The extremely noisy air conditioning system struggled to make any significant difference to the ambient temperature and of course, when we left the room, the air-con automatically switches off so it was difficult to get warm. The plumbing system is best described as "antiquated". A seriously cracked washbasin was the first clue to the overall level of sanitary maintenance, followed by the over-filling toilet bowl and the slow draining bathtub which enables one to paddle around ankle deep in watre whilst taking a shower. The complimentary bathrobes were a nice touch - although as frequent Pousada visitors, we were not exactly taken by surprise!
Whoever wrote & translated the history of the Quinta into "Ponglish" (that estrange mixtura of lingua combining Portuguese & English) deserves a special mention as we have never laughed so much at the written word since we cancelled our subscription to "Private Eye". |

Why oh why does sitting down in a restaurant have to be such a painful & uncomfortable experience??? Not being endowed with the oversized rump of your average middle aged lardy, I find sitting on a solid, unbending, unforgiving piece of timber for more than a few minutes to be an uncomfortable experience which detracts continuously, by degree, from my enjoyment of a meal. Give me padded dining room seating, PLEASE!!! |

The apartment was big and nice but very cold (in spite was beginning of November) and needed many hours of heating system on. The geographical position is ideal for visiting either the Alentejo or the Cities historic Town of western Spain.
The garden is astonishing and just walking there is relaxing and pleasant (I can imagine during summer time should be even better). The food (both breakfast and dinner) was excellent, though the service was extremely slow for the evident lack of personnel. The internal (common areas) environment was well furnished and warmly welcoming, suggesting a pleasant staying after dinner. The personnel both at the reception and in the restaurant was professional and extremely kind. |

The way to reach the hotel is however very badly kept and dangerous for cars suspenctions. The cleaning of the rooms was affected by the presence of spider webs and the doors are not able to keep the warm temperature. |
