The Golden Tulip Amsterdam Centre is a lovely, well-situated hotel. It is a 5 minute walk from Amsterdam central railway station. This is my second visit as I was impressed with my previous stay. The room's decor was fresh and the bathroom was excellent with a bath and two shower heads which could be simply changed with the press of a button. When we checked out reception staff offered to keep our bags until we left for the station. That gesture was much appreciated as it enabled us to visit another museum without trailing our luggage along.

That the hotel was very mush in the center of the city. The "fire" place in the lobby where you could sit and have a beer or coffe.

It was an execellent stay. The hotel is good as well as the position very close to the center. Very clean, staff very cooperative, abundant breakfast.
I have been a frequent traveller for my job and I have to say that this hotel is the ideal solution under all the aspects.

See 'what did you like during your stay...etc.
Very kind employees, helpful and 'american' friendly, so they were trained well! Good location, modern clean rooms. easy to work TV where not rightaway porn popped up which usually is the case in Dutch hotels.
I find the breakfast rates too high, esp. for a family of 5, to pay 100 dollar for breakfast is crazy so we usually look outside the hotel for breakfast or find a supermarket and then pay 1/10 of that price.

The accommodations were nice but it wasn't my favorite location in Amsterdam. It was too close to the red light district for my comfort. I would prefer to stay nearer the oldest bridge and the modern municipal building. Our travel plans changed due to the fact we would not have been able to get near the hotel on Thur. 4/30/09 due to the major holiday in the Netherlands, Queen's Day. We tried to cancel the first night of our three and were told we could not cancel just one night. We decided to keep the reservation but not try to come into the city on Queen's Day. When we arrived Friday morning, we were initially told the room wasn't ready which didn't seem possible since we paid for our room Thurs. night. The matter was resolved and we were assigned a room right away, but it bothered me that the even tried to make us wait.
The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel seemed secure.

Nice, clean, comfortable & great location hotel. Stayed 4 nights (10-14th Apr). Value for money as even 2* hotels with lousy reviews cost about EUR100 a night. The stay averaged out to be EUR125 a nights. Definitely go for this for the small difference in exchange for good comfort. |
