With its population of 3500, Gündoğan is located 19 km from Bodrum city centre and 48 km from the airport. It is situated at one of the most beautiful bays on the Bodrum peninsula.
The Gündoğan settlement dates back to 400 BC and owes its name to its ancient Greek synonym, Farilia, which means “the dawn”.
Nowadays Gündoğan is known for its excellent seafood, as the locals mostly make their living out of fishing and sponge diving.
The beautiful surroundings of this area, which has the most moderate climate on the Bodrum peninsula, have managed to remain unspoilt.
