Surrounding the Piazza Santa Maria Novella are numerous ancient and modern attractions, and many major ports of public transportation are within walking distance. While the hotel’s original structure was built many years ago, it has since then been updated by notable architects Edoardo Detti and Carlo Scarpa to better pamper the modern-day traveler.
Nowadays, the Grand Hotel Minerva offers such contemporary services as wireless internet access, a rooftop lounge area featuring a bar and a swimming pool, and even a solarium. An excellent hotel. Room was large, airy and maintained to a good standard. The renovation of Piazza Santa Maria Novello directly outside the hotel is not ideal, but didn't cause any noise problems for us. The fixed price tasting menu at the hotel restaurant (45euro including wine with every course) is worth a try and was a welcome relief from the seemingly over-salted meals we had at other restaurants etc.
The roof-top swimming pool which along with the terrace provides great views over Florence.
Not really. But the jacuzzi bath didn't seem to work and the bath is too small for two to be in it with any real comfort. Bathroom itself was a good size though.
