Main reason for choosing Koeln Marriott Hotel: Other
- Impressive location. It is literally on a dock on the water
- Next door is a large shopping centre - great for the ladies. It is connected via a boardwalk. One minute walk from the hotel.
- The restaurant staff were friendly and courteous - as well as the housekeeping staff.
- Funky but very functional hotel room.
- The hotel room has (balcony style) doors that completely open. In most hotels, such doors would be shut tight.
- Terrible front/desk reception person - specifically one person named Anders. He acted like he owns the hotel. Turns out he was a part-time person who works for the other hotels for this hotel chain.
- Some of the staff (save for the restaurant or housekeeping staff) come across as arrogant and not willing to help out customers.
- You need to carry your luggage up the flight of stairs to the entrance. Not necessarily a bad thing - but forget it for handicap folks.
- Parking - very limited. Maybe 12 spaces or so in front of the hotel.
- One side of the hotel has a great view (the water) the other side faces the city (which isn't as good).
- Located about 20 minutes walk to Tivoli Gardens or the Train Station
- Expensive - especially the food. Better to eat next door at the Shopping Centre (check out Grand Vue on the top floor of the shopping centre).

I have nothing but the highest of praise for all your staff, in particular the concierge who was on duty on Oct 3rd. I arrived on Oct 1st and due to a family emergency I had to leave on the 3rd. The concierge was extremely helpful to me in re scheduling my flights home. This was a very traumatic time for me and his patience and kindness will never be forgotten. I had intended in sending my thanks sooner.

Main reason for choosing Koeln Marriott Hotel: Facilities
My principal complaint was that my colleague travelling with us had to move rooms twice before they found a functioning air conditioner. Second complaint is that the corridors are a maze.
Good beds and pillows.
The required yes or no rating just below is quite obnoxious. I would say maybe, but because of how you phrased it, it has to be a NO.

Main reason for choosing Koeln Marriott Hotel: Reputation
Previosuly stayed at the Hilton Cologne but the Marriott is also a very nice hotel with pleasant and helpful staff and very comfortable rooms. I was attending the Koln Messe and wass fortunate to have great weather during my stay, if it had been bad weather then the location would have been a minor problem but not too much of an inconvenience.
Corridors and rooms were decorated to a high standard.
Room 225 had no view to speak off and was a smoking room. I am however, happy to report that there was absolutely no smell of smoke or ash in the room.
